That was very beautiful. The authenticity and actuality of the chapter, the feeling of rowing among whales, very vivid. Love it.
Also, there were many great insights in that afterword. The unapologetic quality of authenticity or vivacity (etc, as you say, depending). The link from that to improvisation. The roots of disappointment and its significance. And of course pain as the way in and out, depending on what name we give vivacity, etc. Very enjoyable. Thanks.
Also, the way the chapter and the afterword related, the way the story developed as a vivacious improvisation, finding that same easy relationship to Being in writing as you do in painting and music and other design areas.
Being at the moment is a rarity for most of us. Those fleeting moments for me have come in the peaks of the Adirondacks, and yes, dreams can bring that, as well as a heightened experience of reality. As a long time cyclist, dreams where I ascend mountains without effort and travel to places I've never seen are particularly enjoyable. As for pain, I was happy to teach my daughter not to fear it. When I was teaching her to ride, she had a minor accident, a little skinned up. As I cleaned her up, I was able to make her realize the pain wasn't making her cry, it was the fear. Congratulations on finishing a manuscript from 2012!
I might have missed the posting of chapters 2 and 3. I'll check later.

Thanks Jeff!
Beautiful piece. I managed to concentrate on it in spite of the coup being carried out.
Thank you Geoffrey,
I've been working my way through editing this manuscript from back in 2012. It feels like we've caught up to where it was heading.
